Diablo Valley College


• Diablo Valley College, or DVC, is a publicly supported community college and has its main campus in Pleasant Hill, California.

• Although it was established in 1949, it moved to the present location in 1952.

• Recently, in 2006, its second campus was opened, which is located in San Ramon Valley.

• It is preferred by most of the Asian International Students and currently enrolls more or less 22000 students from all over the world.

• The college offers degrees and certificates in an array of programs such as
- Astronomy
- Business Management
- Culinary Arts
- Drama
- Economics
- Health Science (and many more)

• The college serves students with many of its online courses too.

• DVC has a dedicated faculty that contributes towards the educational needs of the community.

• A close student-faculty relationship exists in the college.

• The college believes that it is important to have a balance between generalization and specialization so that students are able to derive sense from their learning.

• DVC is also committed towards helping student athletes by providing them with required resources.

• It promotes that, apart from academic achievements, athletic participation is vital too.

• It also believes that sports instill skills like leadership, sportsmanship and time management in the students.

• The college offers a number of sports for its students, namely

• DVC takes pride in having produced many famous athletes like Willie McGee, Doug Davis, Demarshay Johnson.

• The college runs a student newspaper called "The Inquirer".

• DVC provides great opportunity to its students and community to showcase their talents in performing arts too.

• From concerts to various dance styles to art events and drama, the college has it all.

• The Art Department of the college presents many working studios in the following areas:

- Painting
- Sculpture
- Ceramics
- Print making
- Metal Arts

• The Art Department conducts exhibitions, events, workshops and art sales throughout the year.

• The Art Gallery also showcases diverse art works by students, faculty as well as regional artists.

• The college ensures safety of its members through law enforcement agencies.

• A range of programs and services on safety are provided to assure the overall well being of students and staff.
